Anesthesiologists in East, Central and Southern Africa
Point locations and hospital of practicing anesthesiologists
This map was produced by the College of Anaesthesiologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (CANECSA), in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa and the College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland. This four-college collaboration programme is funded by Irish Aid. Queen's University Belfast took a leading role in the collection and collation of this dataset. The Anaesthesiology Association of Uganda, in conjunction with the University of California San Francisco, independently collected the Ugandan workforce data.
This research was made possible by the support of numerous individuals and institutions in all eight CANECSA Member Countries. We thank the national anaesthesia and anaesthesiology societies, national medical councils, the Zambia College of Medicine and Surgery and the many hospitals, hospital groups and NGOs who supported the data collection. We must particularly acknowledge Dr Juventine Asingei, Dr Mpoki Ulisubisya, Prof Diarmuid O'Donovan, Ms Sophia Masuka, Dr Doreen Mashava, Mr Eric O'Flynn, Ms Faith Akello and Ms Hailey Sledge for their tireless work.
